rider and horse in competitionThe 2017 Warrenton Horse Show starts Wednesday, August 30th and ends Sunday, September 3rd. Now in its 118th year, this time-honored tradition is adding a few new events to the calendar. Here’s a quick guide about what to expect at this year’s Warrenton Horse Show.

Where to Go

The Warrenton Horse Show grounds (located at 60 East Shirley Ave., Warrenton, VA 20186) are located about half a mile from Main Street in Old Town Warrenton.

If you’re planning to stay at local accommodations in the area and are looking for something fun to do while you’re visiting, you have plenty of great shopping and dining choices at your fingertips. Don’t forget to pay a visit to the Warrenton Farmers’ Market on Saturday morning!

What to See

New to the 2017 Warrenton Horse Show are two Jumper Classes, a $500 Schooling Jumper and a $1,500 Jumper Classic (sponsored by Middleburg Bank). Both will take place on Thursday night.

You don’t want to miss Sunday’s events, either. This year, the show has saved the best for last: a tailgating competition and “Hunt Night” classes are must-sees at this year’s Warrenton Horse Show and will take place Sunday evening.

  • Wednesday, August 30th: Hunter Breeding Divisions (Virginia Breeders Fund Yearling Futurity and VHSA Yearling Futurity competition)
  • Thursday, August 31st: New Jumper Classes
  • Saturday, September 2nd: Modified Children’s/Adult Amateur Hunter Classic and $5,000 Hunter Classic (sponsored by Warrenton & Miller Toyota)
  • Sunday, September 3rd: Sidesaddle and Foxhunter Classes
